The world’s largest painting is 17,000 square feet, Sacha Jafri’s, “The Journey of Humanity” (2020), an abstraction featuring drips, whorls, and splatters of various hues. It is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records.  

Some 18th century European artists specialized in tiny portraits known as miniatures, painted on small pieces of special ivory. But in China and India, even smaller pictures have been made, some fitting onto a single grain of rice!

After a long 19 minute bidding war, “Salvator Mundi” became the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction. Sold from a private European collection, the winning buyer was a Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. It sold for $450.3 million. Wow!
