Who’s the Man Hidden under Pablo Picasso’s The Blue Room?

In 2014, art historians announced that they had found hidden under the surface of The Blue Room painted by Pablo Picasso, a portrait of a man wearing a bow tie with his chin resting on his hand. Artists often will reuse a canvas, but the mystery lies in the identity of the man. Some speculate he may have been the art dealer who hosted Picasso’s first show in 1901. His name was Ambroise Vollard. What is known for sure is that it is not a self-portrait.

Who do you think the hidden man was?
