The Opening Reception is open to the public and all ages are welcome. Admission is FREE. The show will run from September 17, 2022 through October 16, 2022.

JT Thompson : A Place in Time with Spatial Contradictions is an exhibit that will introduce the viewer to lines and angles, open doors, and shifting planes in paintings of dreams and reality.

JT Thompson is an abstract oil painter known for his fragmented surrealistic landscapes. His use of manipulation of scale leads him to create dream labyrinth worlds. He calls his style geometric surrealism. His paintings give the illusion of rooms, staircases and hallways. This series of paintings at the Garrett Museum of Art “depicts one’s movement through life and shows how our lives are not as linear as predicted,” says Thompson.

Thompson was raised in southwestern Ohio and moved to Columbus to study painting at Columbus College of Art and Design. He has received Individual Artist Grants from the Greater Columbus Arts Council and was selected for Ohio Arts Council’s 2017 Biennial Exhibition. His work is represented in the collections of the Columbus Museum of Art, the downtown Columbus Hilton, Northern Kentucky University, the Greater Columbus Convention Center, and the Columbus Hilton Tower.
