Join us at the Garrett Museum of Art, located at 100 S. Randolph Street in Garrett, on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 5:00PM – 8:00PM to celebrate the opening of our next exhibition by artist CAITLYN BRANDT, In-Between: The Tipping Point.
Admission is FREE, open to the public, and all ages are welcome. The show will run from August 2, 2024 through September 28, 2024.
Caitlyn Brandt is an artist living and painting in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting from Grand Valley State University. Drawing from the landscape, Brandt paints the line between reality and invention in her colorful patterned works.
Growing up in Michigan surrounded by forests and water, her love for the environment has enlightened her appreciation for the beauty of all things, especially in nature. Her travels throughout the Midwest, the UK, and Europe, have led her to draw inspiration from her experiences with nature and with various cultures.
Brandt remarks,
”Using the landscape as a point of departure, I play with the dialogue between natural phenomenon and perception. I explore how geometry, line and pattern, and color inform how we understand space and our feelings towards it. Just as the natural world uses these elements to convey certain meanings, I aim to do the same. This show depicts both the beauty in nature and a hint of an eerie future landscape if allowed to manifest. We are suspended in this in-between space of action or inaction.”
In-Between: The Tipping Point opens on Friday, August 2, 2024 with a free Opening Reception from 5PM – 8PM. Join us for this majestic show and hear the artist talk about her work. The show runs through September 28, 2024.
